On Wednesday 22nd November 1972 a handful of people met in the café of the swimming baths situated in East Street, Epsom. A draft constitution was drawn up and it was agreed to run just two divisions, playing on a Saturday morning, one at U10 and the other at U12.

Three weeks later the inaugural meeting was held at the same venue and The Epsom & Ewell Parks Boy’s Football League was formed. There were just six founder clubs accepted that evening. They were:- 2nd Hook Scouts, Stoneleigh Boys, Langley Vale, Court Comets, 7th Epsom (Epsom Eagles) and Epsom Comets. Two of those clubs are still with the League and going strong – Epsom Eagles and Stoneleigh.

Competitive football commenced on 13th January 1973. To mark the advent of mixed gender football and to coincide with the 25th anniversary, the name of the league was changed to The Epsom & Ewell Youth Football League in the 1997/8 season. This season there will be over  5000 players and 465 teams. A bit of a difference from 40 years ago!
